Project title:
Coordination and management of the Swiss PV programme on behalf of the Swiss Federal Office of Energy
Short description:
Switzerland is an active member in the PV power systems programme of the International Energy Agency (IEA-PVPS). 21 OECD countries, the European Commission and EPIA participate in collaborative R&D programmes. The collaborative efforts cover both technical and non-technical issues relevant to the implementation of PV. The Executive Committee decides on the principle “one country – one vote”. Switzerland has been chairing this PV programme since 2001, and has, subsequently, had some positive influence on the strategic orientation of this programme with global reputation and importance. Major advantages of this cooperation are the extended international network and communication channels.

Both the chair and the secretariat of the PV power systems programme of the International Energy Agency (IEA-PVPS) are under Swiss responsibility. The secretariat supports the Executive Committee in all related issues, organises meetings and sessions, and edits annual reports with the status of PV developments in the member states.
